Hosted by the Historic Charleston Foundation, this festival runs from mid-March to mid-April. The festival lets visitors tour historic homes and gardens. The tours highlight the architecture, interior design, and landscaping that contributes to Charleston’s old colony atmosphere. This is a women’s only professional tennis tournament held annually in Charleston. Starting in the early 70’s, a time of uncertainty, the tournament was a way to grow women’s tennis and gain recognition. The tournament is considered a world-class event and attracts some of the top competitors in the sport. Another feature of the Credit One Open is that fans can participate by volunteering to assist with the tournament or the ball crew. The Credit One Open has become one of Charleston’s most exciting events.
April - September
The Charleston Riverdogs are a minor-league baseball team. As a Low-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, they play in the South Atlantic League. The team plays their home games at the Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park. What better way to enjoy a summer night than by watching a local ball game? So grab your tickets, a hot dog and a beer, and have fun cheering on the Charleston baseball team.
March - November
If you’re looking for some fresh snacks or ingredients for a meal, then you’ll find the Charleston Farmers Market in Marion Square – right in the heart of the downtown Historic District. The market is open every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and runs from April to November. There’s no admission fee and there’s plenty of parking on the street or at nearby lots. It’s worth checking out as the market hosts a lot of vendors for food, handmade crafts, jewelry and art. So stop by and support some local vendors.
