We really loved staying at Sam's place. He was very easy to communicate with both during our trip and in advance of our trip. You can't beat this location. We had two small children in tow, so it was great to have a short walk to the beach. We would stay here again!

Sam was a responsive and welcoming host. We had everything we needed and more. We had beach towels and beach chairs we weren’t even expecting, came in so handy for our walk to the beach. It was so close to the beach. he also had umbrellas and games. So nice! The neighborhood was great and Sam’s recommendations were spot on. The Lost Dog Cafe was close and so delicious.   Thank you for welcoming us to your place. We are so appreciative of the beach towels, chairs, and the recommendations. Would’ve love to meet you! Thanks again for hosting us. It made our vacation!

From the moment we stepped into the Shady Shack, we knew we made the right decision! It was inviting, quaint, simple and clean. The decor was lovely and the lighting was superb. Amenities just as described. Our evening family bocci tournament was more competitive than we anticipated. The location was perfect. Enjoy a short walk to the beach for a day in the sun and surf or spend some time shark teeth hunting. For good eats and some local shopping, take a stroll to the main strip. Local island owner, if needs arise. We plan to visit again!

Had a great time on our first trip to Folly. Not only is the beach a stone's throw away, lots of great restuarants and shops in downtown. The place was quiet and peaceful and Sam was an excellent host. We'll be coming back for sure!

The Shady Shack was a cozy, convenient place to stay on Folly for our family. We were close to everything. Sam was excellent at communicating and responsive to any questions. We would definitely stay again on our future trips to Folly!

great place! Close to the beach and nice restaurants. Don't even need to drive anywhere if you don't want to. We did drive to Charleston two of the days. Once for city market and once for the Magnolia plantation. Both worth the time and money. Place was nicely decorated, quiet, good mattresses and pillows. No complaints.

Great location for a stay in the Charleston area! Sam communicated frequently and the check in/out process was very simple and well-documented. Only ~3 min walk from the beach so you don’t have to worry about packing everything for the day. We drove into Charleston every day for dinner, etc. and took advantage of a few of Sam’s recommendations for breakfast / local shops.

Really cute place, well decorated, clean and cozy, so close to beach. Though the noise through the floor from upstairs guests of duplex (chairs, voices, etc) was disappointing.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Shady Shack. The unit is well placed - very close to the beach and to the shops/food in town. It was great having a backyard to play badminton, bocce, and to BBQ. The furnishings and garden are well-kept. Kitchen had most of what we needed for a week long stay to make meals. AC and dehumidifier were great relief from the summer heat. The enclosed balcony is a great place to sit outdoors without getting bugs/mosquitoes on you. With a King, Queen, and Double beds, I recommend this place for two to three couples!

We loved our stay at the Shady Shack! The descriptions and amenities were spot on, and Sam’s communication was excellent. It’s very clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed all of the outdoor spaces, especially the shower! Mostly, you cannot beat the location- a block from the beach! Finally, the old growth trees and lush vegetation offer privacy and shade. A luxury during our stay.

We loved this location. This was our 5th stay at Folly Beach and first at this house. The house was in a great location. Very quick block to the beach and still walking distance from Center St. The amenities were great and communication from Sam was awesome as well!

Highly recommend! Shady shack is a lovely and comfy place, tucked in among beautiful landscaping and steps from the beach! The decor is fresh, beds are comfy, screened-in porch is heavenly and the host is superb! Sam was very responsive to any questions as we prepared for our stay, extremely accommodating and very welcoming. You will love it!

Such a little gem. Great for our family. We have a one year old and five year old, and being on the ground level gave us peace of mind for the kids to walk around on the screened porch without us having to stress about being on an upper level. The house was super cute and the convenience couldn’t be better. We literally walked to dinner every night and to the beach every day. We didn’t need to use our rental car except for special excursions. Never heard our upstairs neighbors, but we did meet them so I know they existed lol. The property worked very very well for us and folly beach was adorable. Super clean and stocked up with anything we needed. The only downside was the beach equipment was a little damaged, but it makes sense. Salt water is super hard on metal and I’m sure other guests got good use of it. We did use the towels and there was sunscreen and aloe there which was an unexpected touch we were grateful for. You can hear the waves breaking at night and the beach is literally with a variety of shells. Tons of families around and the town and this home feel super safe. We’ve traveled a lot internationally and this was the first property I truly felt like our family was right at home from the time we walked in the door. It was so charming… We’ll definitely return. Enjoy your stay!

Sam was a fantastic host and very helpful during trip planning and accommodating during our stay. Location couldn't have been better - you literally just cross the street and you're on the beach! And it's just a short walk of a few blocks to the main drag where all the restaurants and such are. The food on Folly beach was amazing too. The place is cute and roomy - we especially loved the screened in porch and the outdoor shower! Perfect spot for four ladies on a girls holiday!

We loved our stay at the Shady Shack! The location could not be any better. We loved being able to walk to the beach and all of the nearby restaurants. The host was very communicative and helped with any question we had right away. The only thing we'd note is that the mattresses were a bit firmer for our personal preference but we would certainly stay there again anytime!

Perfect spot for a low key getaway. Only about 150 yards from beach access, this place is nestled on a quiet, shaded street and is a relaxing little spot to make your home base for your daily beach/island/Charleston excursions.

Property manager was easy to work with and accommodating. The unit was clean and comfortable and the location is great for bopping onto the Folly Road strip and getting to the beach quickly - all within walking distance. Although clean and comfy, the unit is outdated, particularly the bathroom and kitchen areas and furniture/overall decor. In addition, the amenities (bath/shower) would be difficult if handicap access were needed. Overall a nice place with lots of potential! (OWNER NOTE: Bathroom remodeled in Jan 2022 with new low profile tub and surround.( Easy in Easy out).
